Slavic Pride 2010 has just taken place …
A total of 12 people were arrested, including 2 Russians who are organizers for St Petersburg Pride. There were also 18 skinheads arrested.
Ukgaynews.org.uk is publishing a continuing story of the events going on in Belarus. – (Blogging from Belarus)
Here’s an excerpt:
15:08 Minsk had its gay pride march. For just 10 minutes, 40 Belarusians and Russians waived a 12 meters long rainbow flag for a short march of approximately 200 meters. They were at first met by a large group of journalists, photographers and TV crew. But when they reached the first crossing point, they were trapped by several vans of anti-riot police. Suddenly, the doors of the vans opened and anti-riot officers ran towards the participants. “I never saw anything of the kind” said Nikolai Alekseev by mobile phone. “They were brutal and violent” he added. Another participant who did not want to be named said: “It was like a group of wild dogs”. The march ended with most of the participants being arrested and violently beaten. A few managed to escape but the police ran after them.

A new documentary has just come out focusing on the Stonewall riots …
“It was the Rosa Parks moment,” says one man. June 28, 1969: NYC police raid a Greenwich Village Mafia-run gay bar, The Stonewall Inn. For the first time, patrons refuse to be led into paddy wagons, setting off a 3-day riot that launches the Gay Rights Movement. Told by Stonewall patrons, Village Voice reporters and the cop who led the raid,Stonewall Uprising compellingly recalls the bad old days when psychoanalysts equated homosexuality with mental illness and advised aversion therapy, and even lobotomies; public service announcements warned youngsters against predatory homosexuals; and police entrapment was rampant.
A treasure-trove of archival footage gives life to this all-too-recent reality, a time when Mike Wallace announced on a 1966 CBS Reports: “The average homosexual, if there be such, is promiscuous. He is not interested in, nor capable of, a lasting relationship like that of a heterosexual marriage.” At the height of this oppression, the cops raid Stonewall, triggering nights of pandemonium with tear gas, billy clubs and a small army of tactical police. The rest is history.

Also, here’s a link to an interesting Q+A SESSION held with the directors and original book author concerning motivations for developing this project, and the importance of Stonewall.

Very sad … Fridae.com has an insiders’ look at the recently stopped ILGA conference in Surabaya.
Around 50 to 60 Islamic hardliners arrived at the hotel hosting the conference and demanded an end to the conference, and for attendees to leave the country.
Sylvia Tan who wrote the story includes revealing photos of what happened at the hotel.

Have you ever wondered what a pride parade in Japan looks like, or what about a march in S. Africa, Lithuania, the USA, Greece, Mexico, India, or any of the other countries around the globe?
These questions got me thinking, and with the help of WordPress, YouTube, and many many many hours online and on Excel, I’ve been able to develop a one of a kind 2010 pride parade calendar. Searchable by country and by month, this huge database is special in that it provides embedded video clips of pride parades for each country. While some 2010 dates have not yet been confirmed by their pride organizations, these parades are marked with a “*” and dates are generated based on 2009 data. If you have any comments, or would like to submit a link – make sure to email us: [email protected]
Besides providing a well-organized list of pride parades to visitors, this website was additionally created to support pride-related advertisers. All ad-revenue and donations from this site will directly contribute toward supporting the project’s travel costs. We will also be developing a pride store, in which links to unique pride gear from businesses around the globe will be provided.
Okay, that’s enough of me describing it, why don’t you visit the website for yourself and tell us your feedback …

Playing around with Photoshop, Chad created these signs the other day. They are based on some of the signs held up during the Manila pride march.
